REMY THE DOG GOT ME INTO THIS

REMY THE DOG GOT ME INTO THIS

Most people don’t realize that they need an air purifier until there is a problem.  This could be due to wildfires, floods in the home, hurricanes, other natural disasters, and even personal health problems such as allergies, asthma, and Covid. For me, the trigger was allergies.

Airborne allergies always affected my everyday life in some small way. But dog dander, even dog dander from “hypoallergenic dogs” affects me in a big way. For that reason, I never had a dog, even though I love dogs. My allergist recommended avoidance as the best policy. Sometimes you have to give up things you enjoy, just to breathe.

This was my situation with my dog allergy and Pilates. I have the most terrific Pilates teacher, Erica of Erica’s Pilates in suburban Chicago, ericaspilatesstudio.com.  Erica bought a beautiful puppy, Remy the mini-Bernedoodle. Remy loves Pilates too. I gave up on having a dog, but did I have to give up Pilates too? Anyone with severe dog dander allergies knows that secluding the dog from the room during a lesson does nothing to solve the problem. The dander is in the air, and it is everywhere that was ever occupied by the dog, and it goes through the vents too. For me, a one hour session of Pilates meant feeling sick with lung congestion for two weeks at least. My allergist suggested either taking antihistamines and inhalers or stopping Pilates lessons at Erica’s studio. I did not want to lose Erica as my Pilates teacher.

After much research, I called the folks at Austin Air headquarters in New York.  I had remembered that an Austin Air purifier had helped my daughter with a relatively mild cat allergy in college, but my dog dander allergy was much more severe. I was told that an Austin Healthmate would easily clear all of the dog dander out of the air at the rate of about 15 times an hour.  For me, this was hard to believe, because if it was true, I am sure I would have heard about this a long time ago, and all severe allergy sufferers would have been talking about it a long time ago. But I thought I would give it a try.

Good air purifiers are expensive, and Austin Air was no exception. This was a big investment for me, especially for a product that I was not even putting in my home.  (I now have one in my home, one at the studio, and one with my daughter at college). During my research, I found that one of the things that sets Austin Air apart from all others on the market is that its filter does not have to be replaced for up to 5 years. This actually made it less expensive than other air purifiers on the market, which require filter replacement every 6 months or 1 year. I also took note that the Austin Air was the only air purifier that I could find that was tested by a major research and teaching hospital, Johns Hopkins University, which has no skin in the results, and beat out over 100 competitors. This pretty much sealed the deal for me. Some of the other air purifiers that I looked at claimed to have been tested by “independent” research outfits that I never heard of, and I was suspicious of whether it was paid-for research. Some bloggers even claimed to have tested air purifiers on their own, and I should just believe their results. Some air purifier companies claimed they were better because they were ionizers, which I already knew was not recommended for anyone with breathing difficulties.  Austin Air was also tested and used by the U.S. government in helping people after 9-11, Hurricane Katrina, and Hurricane Sandy. Each Austin Air purifiers cleans an impressive 1500 square feet, much more than most other air purifiers, so I knew I needed only one for the studio. So, I made the decision to purchase a HealthMate Plus, and was given permission to place it in Erica’s Pilate’s Studio.

The rest is history.  Erica ran the Austin Air purifier on high for a few days.  I returned to Pilates class, and have not had a single dog allergy symptom there since. I don’t know if this would be the case for everyone, but my dog dander allergies are severe, and it worked for me. There are not many times in life that a product comes up that is so life-altering. Based on that, I felt compelled to share my story, with the hope that other allergy sufferers can get the same type of relief that I achieved. That is what led me to call Austin Air, and request permission to sell their air purifiers. You will see from our website at allergysolutionsairpurifiers.com that Austin Air is the only air purifier we sell.

So, that is how Remy the dog got me into spreading the word about Austin Air purifiers. They work for me, and I believe they will work for you.
